We've been at Borestone Bowling Club before, about 4 or 5 years ago. A good crowd for a Scots/St Andrews night with stovies, haggis and NO BINGO!!!!! A good night and hopefully not the last. Thanks to John MacLean and his family for booking us and for the hospitality.

At the last moment, ewan was unable to make it to Auchterarder for the AGM of the local WRI. Bob and Adrian still made it and did a Song and story show by the seat of the pants. We included a couple of new songs and had a good night with the Rural Ladies. Good scones as well!

It was a great pleasure to help the new Mr and Mrs Jim and Glenda Bayne celebrate their marriage with family and friends at the Glenfinnan House Hotel. The midges weren't too bad and the staff at the hotel were tops. The guests got stuck in about the dancing with gusto, in fact one or two of them seemed to have been knocking back the 'gusto' a fair bit. The hotel laid on an excellent roast beef dinner for the band at half time and the dancing continued until after midnight. A couple of new songs were given and airing (including a song requested by Jim and Glenda called Iris by the 'Goo Goo Dolls'). Everyone got up at the end for the Hokey Cokey/Auld Lang Syne and ended up with a freeform reel to 'I'll Tell Me Ma' An excellent night all round and a great start to Mr and Mrs Baynes new life together.
We took up the tent and caravans and made a weekend of it with wives/kids/dogs and had a fine old time. The drive up through Glen Coe was stunning and the camp site at Loch Linnhie was excellent. The return of The Jacobites to Glenfinnan was well worth the journey and hopefully we may be back.

The large barn at Upper Spittleton Farm, near Blair Drummond was very well set up for us with a stage and fairy lights. Very pretty. It was a 60th birthday and retirement party and was jumping with about 160. A bit slow to dance, but worth waiting for at the end for the usual Hokey Cokey/Auld Lang Syne and a lot of happy faces going out the door. Better than that, the midges stayed outside and the only flying object was a slightly annoyed bat which took to doing circuits of the roof space.

Presentation night at Cambuslang Rugby Club for the local athletic club. A fun night with some friends and their friends. Georges dancing was amazing (assisted by large amounts of lager) We were doing a Strip the Willow. George was doing his own thing in the middle of it!! Ewan won bottle whisky and Adrian a runners water bottle, don;t know what he'll do with that. We got a few new photos and they're now up on the site along with a set of tunes on the Tunes and Songs page. The recording is from a tape Ewan and Adrian did in 1997.

Private Party for Alisons 21st birthday in Aberfoyle. What a hoot! a number of Alisons family were up from the North east of England and got stuck in about the dancing. Highlight was the best dancer of the night and only 5 years old. She never stopped!! We didn't even mention the Rugby score...............well, not much!

Abbey Burns Supper, Cambusbarron is one of the best in the area and although in the small village hall in Cambuskenneth, there were 70 or so stuffed in for some very fine renditions of Burns work. David Sibbald provided recitations and Ian Cameron sang. After the Immortal memeory, Ewan and Adrian ruined the fine atmosphere by kicking things up a bit. A return invite is already in for next year. Great night.

Bobs back is fine now. We were on the bill for the Central Scotland Police Burns Supper, one of the largest suppers in the area with 370+ in Falkirk Town Hall. One of our favourite venues which we visit about twice a year, Brian and the back stage boys look after us very well. We provided the sangs and clatter towards the end of the night and the folk in the hall were well up for a sing. Except the ones who were unconsciously well refreshed. A great night.

Happy New Year. We went to Dunning to start our 2006 gigs. It was wet, cold and windy, but not in the hall. The WRI at Dunning bake very fine short bread and dance at the drop of a hat, even when there is only one man in the crowd. He was busy. Great village and a great night. We really hope to be invited back for a full ceilidh. Bob had a knackered back and missed this one. It's all the housework!

Callander Round Table throw an annual party for the local elderly and they know how to party!. Great singers and dancers. Thanks to Dan and his staff at the Dreadnaught Hotel, Callander for hosting and looking after us. He also sings you know!

We play most years at Christmas time for the residents Party at Sumerford House, Falkirk. Always welcoming and it just goes to show you're only as old as you want to be.

Brig O Turk Christmas Party in the village hall started with a rather fine buffet. There was more venison stew bread rolls and proffiterols than we could eat (and we tried!). It was great to be back in the village. Great dancing and singing from the very young to the slightly older. The locals really know how to have a great time, mind you, it might have something to do with the booze everyone brought. A big thanks to Brian for booking us and we can't wait to be invited back.
If there's any spare venison.................................

The Central Scotland International Police Association had us back again at the Golden Lion for a night with a group of visiting Northern Irish Police and retired Police officers and the craic was mighty!! Singing, dancing stories and Guiness in abundance. Even a snatch of Ronan Keating for the ladies! Special mention to Derek who ended the evening with a 10 minute stand up and was outrageous. We last played for these guys about 4 years ago and last night was even better than the last time. Hope it isn't another 4 years.

Cambusbarron Church held about 70 to raise funds for a mission in Africa. The audience were in great voice and even laughed at the lame jokes. The tea and home made cakes afterwards were just what the doctor ordered.

Had a great night at the Mayfield Centre in Stirling. Adrian and Ewan played for a fund raising night to fund Kenny Park and his brother travelling to New York in a couple of weeks to run the Marathon. The dancing started from the traditional opening set 'Killiecrankie' for a Gay Gordons and 190 or so nutters in the hall had a go at all the dances from then onwards. The 9 sets for the Dashing White Sergeant passed without incident (or injury) and we finished off with a frantic Virginia Reel and a few waltzes. After the buffet, a disco took over to play some childrens music and we headed off for a well deserved Chinese. The night raised £2700 so the fund raising got off to a great start.

The Central Scotland International Police Association had the band back for a great night at the Golden Lion Hotel to entertain about 100 Cops from all over the world. The night was split with Paraig MacNeil, a traditional story teller who spun some yarns while the band had a break and sandwich. We're hoping to have some photos from the night up on the site soon.
